PRESCHOOL DIRECTOr & Teacher
My husband, Steve and I live just a mile north of Holy Cross. We have 2 daughters. Kristen is 20 years old and lives with the grandparents while attending U of M Dearborn, pursuing a degree in genetic counseling. Caitlin is 18 years old, and will attend Rochester Christian College this fall. Believe it or not, both girls were students here at Holy Cross Christian Preschool. I am blessed to be a member of the Holy Cross church family for over 27 years now. I've been serving at Holy Cross Christian Preschool since 2004. My educational background includes a child development associate credential, an associate's degree in early childhood development, a bachelor’s in business, and hundreds (I do mean hundreds) of training hours in early childhood education. I’m looking forward to getting to know the families this year & I’m excited for the friendships, field trips, messy art projects, science experiments, Bible lessons and the organized chaos that is preschool. Just thinking about it makes my heart sing!
Hello! My name is Lori Phelps, more commonly known as Ms Lori! I am excited and grateful to be serving at Holy Cross Christian Preschool! I joined the staff in 2017. I was raised in Oxford and chose to raise my family here as well. My husband Tony and I have been married since 1995 and we are the proud parents of 3 daughters. Our girls are all students and/or graduates of Oxford Schools and two of the three girls are former Holy Cross students! I have the joy of having more than 30 years of experience working with children, whether working in daycare, teaching preschool, babysitting, teaching dance or raising my own children. While working toward my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development, I had the opportunity to open my own dance studio in Oxford where I have been teaching dance for all ages, levels and style for more than 20 years! I am excited to not only continue teaching dance and running the dance studio, but also to be back in preschool classrooms! I am looking forward to getting to know the students and families at Holy Cross.
I am a proud graduate of U of M (GO BLUE!), I have my bachelors in elementary education and endorsement in early childhood. My husband, Matthew and I have 3 children. Noah is 11 and in middle school now, Marie is 8 and in the 3rd grade, and Elizabeth is 5 and just started Kindergarten. We have lived in Oxford since 2009, and we LOVE it. Our two youngest attended Holy Cross so now it's my turn to be a part of this amazing school!
I’m very blessed to be apart of the Holy Cross family since 2010. I’m excited to help and watch your children learn about the world around them and grow in God’s love. I have been married for 29 years to my husband Bob. We have two children Bryce (22) and Hanna (19), graduates of Oxford High School. I’m a member at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (since 1996) and I have lived in Ortonville for over 24 years. I have been a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) mom, on the steering committee and a caregiver. I have worked at Good Shepherd Lutheran School as a preschool aide and lunch/recess monitor for 6 years. I have an associates degree in Fine Arts from Oakland Community College. I love volunteering at VBS, Sunday School and coordinating the Operation Christmas Child Program. It will be a pleasure and fun to get to know you and your children.
My name is Kathrine Fugitt but please call me Katie! I joined the staff in 2017. I have been working with children since I was 10 years old. I have led religious education classes, I’ve run dance camps and taught dance to a wide variety of ages. I am currently a student at Oakland Community College in the Early Childhood Development program. My passions include dance and taking care of my 2 year old niece! My faith is very important to me and attending mass with my family each week is a top priority. I am looking forward to spending a fun-filled year with the children here at Holy Cross!
Mrs. Gray with the gray hair - easiest name ever to learn! God calls me his child and grownups call me Lynn. Mike calls me wifey. Past coworkers have called me stockbroker, mailman, custom slipcover tailor, and teacher (my favorite!). Alta calls me Mom, Derek calls me Mom-In-Law, and the two most amazing little girls in the world call me Grandma and are the reason we just moved here to Oxford in retirement. Alta is the music director at Holy Cross, her husband Derek attended preschool there, and 3 year old Annabelle is following in his footsteps this year. Holy Cross allowed me to participate in the bell choir and VBS this summer and I was hooked. I joined the staff in the preschool in 2018. As a lifelong Lutheran, I have enjoyed being a Sunday school and VBS teacher, preschool board member, aide, costume maker, bell ringer, and treasurer. I feel very blessed to have this opportunity, as a classroom aide, to once again wake up on Tuesday and Thursday mornings saying "Hello wonderful children!!. The rest of the week you'll find me at my sewing machine (my favorite!), on my bike, in my kayak, taking a walk, maybe tennis, reading a book, dreaming about camping, and babysitting every second they will let me.
All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children. -Isa. 54:13
